Jesus Christ is Come in the Flesh
"Jesus Christ is come in the flesh"
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (1 John 4:2,3)
What gravity is in these verses. And the issue of that gravity -- why would such importance be placed on confessing that "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh"? ....
Because God taking the form of & manifesting Himself as Man is the eternal plan .... "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!" (Ps 139:17). Do we realize that God's "thoughts" are the fuel for our "reality"??? God's eternal thoughts have created the substance of the Reality we are experiencing at this moment. We think of "thought" and it's like inner conversation in the mind, but God's "thoughts" become REAL! And HIS THOUGHTS are "precious" concerning me and "great is the sum of them" ....
"Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." (Ps 139:16) When God "thought" of "me" -- lo, I was created ....
Of what was I created??? Of His Word -- "and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist" (Col 1:17).
Created & predestined before the foundation of the earth to walk in Him as His sons, but unlike a tree, which is also created to be, in a sense, a "son" of God in that a tree praises & manifests the Lord in His eternal "thoughts" of trees, which praise God by their existence, we have been given the privileged gift of self-consciousness and will, and will is in the heart of God because He is a Person and not a tree and therefore as created selves we've been given the serious but ultimately joyous inheritance of Freedom. Free as He is free!
In the Gospel stories nearly everyone had divided loyalties except the Messiah. He stuck to the truth, which was that HE had come inthe flesh. "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears" The Day of the Lord HAS COME -- I Am HE!!!!
Yet they nailed Him to a Cross because they would not BELIEVE God had come in the flesh, because they didn't really believe in God. They only believed in their "idea" of God, and that idea could never come in the flesh, because it was only their idea, and not the True God. They were stirred by their harsh taskmaster, who would not go in himself & would prevent others as well. They had to kill God coming in the flesh because He testified that their god (which was themselves) was not true.
"And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God." (Rev 21:3). Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men -- what can this mean???
God dwelling in man is the final consummation of creation. It is the purpose of all His "thoughts" toward us, "Great is the sum of them" -- "His tabernacle is with men." This is not the tabernacle of the Sinai desert, where everything is hidden and apart. No, this tabernacle is full-bore God dwelling with men. God "knowing" (mixing with) man, God manifesting His Eternal Word, His Eternal Son, by means of His created, adopted sons -- mankind. Being the hidden self in Man, redeemed man, the "Man from heaven -- in the many "men from heaven."
Obviously we were the goal all along, because Paul calls Jesus "the second man . the Lord from heaven." (1 Cor 15:47), which means, since God only is Eternal, the "Second Man" is eternally "Man" and Jesus was the Lord and King of a new race of eternal "men."
But that could not happen had not "Jesus Christ come in the flesh" ....
For us, "this day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears" means that "Jesus Christ has come in my flesh."
This is great boldness. The Pharisees (outside you, and inside you) will say that is blasphemy, that God cannot come in flesh, and certainly not in YOUR flesh.
But He does, and every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. To recognize Him where it looks like He cannot be is to say that He has come in the flesh.
To say, "Yes, I have found myself to be in Him, and therefore my flesh, my humanity, is the Carrier of the Divine, that He has come, emptied Himself of His divinity, donned the likeness of my individual humanity, that my life in this world is the Treasure of Him walking around looking like my earthen vessel," is to say "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" and always death to that temporary picture we see of ourselves which agrees with the Pharisees that we "cannot be God in the flesh."
There is no Christ except He has come in the flesh .
What else can "I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me,and the life I now live in the flesh," mean, but that Christ has now come IN MY FLESH???? .
And this means NOW. There is nothing to hold us back from saying God is manifest in MY flesh now. There are no positional understanding we need, there are no levels to attain, there is no need to wait til we get a new body to get completely going now . God is manifest in MY flesh. IN this particular earthen vessel He shines as a Treasure to those with eyes that see and ears that hear .
NOW, TODAY, is this scripture fulfilled in your ears:
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD (Is 61:1,2) .
It is fulfilled TODAY in YOU and ME .
HE has done it .
"This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes."
